About Us-Allergy Free & Preservative Free Gourmet Dog Treats

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Waggy Tail Dog Treats. In 2001 we purchased Molly, our Yellow Lab Golden Retriever. She is a beautiful dog who we became attached to very quickly. Shortly after Molly turned one year old we noticed some sneezing, chewing on her paws, and some other allergy symptoms. We called the vet and were instructed to give her Benedryl and come in for an appointment. Within a couple of hours Molly’s whole body was covered with hives. We took her into the vet right away where she was given an injection of prednisone to relieve the symptoms. The next step was to begin allergy testing.

The first test was food allergies and we found that she is allergic to peas, oats, barley, lamb and beef! Needless to say, we had to start reading labels and we found that a majority of dog foods and dog treats contain either beef or beef-by-products in their ingredients. We were able to find a dog food that she could eat with the help of our vet, but the dog treats proved to be more of a challenge to find. After searching and finding very few dog treats Molly could eat, we decided to start making our own allergy-free dog treats for her, this way we could ensure she was getting a healthy treat that didn’t contain anything that she is allergic to. The canine treats we created also had no fillers, preservatives or chemicals and used only all natural ingredients. Our canine treats are also low in calories for dog owners concerned about their dog's weight.

As we began experimenting with different ideas over the past three years we really enjoyed making the healthy, allergy free dog treats and saw how our dogs enjoyed the homemade treats so much more than store bought dog treats. This led to our passion to share our healthy, gourmet dog treats with other dogs across the country and this is how the concept of Waggy Tail Dog Treats was born!

We offer you, our customers, the same healthy, gourmet treats that we feed Molly and our black Pug Max. We do not sell anything that Max and Molly don’t approve of!! We know your dogs will love our healthy dog treats as much as Max and Molly!

Also, if your dog has allergies and you are unable to find anything on our website that he or she can eat, let us know and we will come up with a dog treat recipe that your dog can eat! Your satisfaction (and your dog's) is our number one concern.
